Direct Support Professional (DSP)

The Direct Support Professional establishes a secure and positive environment that nurtures the client’s self-expression, needs, and goals. Provides support, supervision, and training to individuals with disabilities in a group home setting. Completes documentation of service provided. Provides independent life skills and support services to clients. This position is a safety-sensitive position under the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Good documentation, typing and communication skills.
  • Microsoft Office Outlook and Calendar experience required.
  • Must have at least one year of experience working with developmentally disabled adults.
  • Experience with observing and then recording data in computer program to document the progress of individual served toward objectives.
  • Experience assisting clients with personal care and mobility needs. This may include tooth brushing, bathing, toileting, transfers, etc.
  • Experience assisting individuals with the management of behaviors in a professional manner and demonstration of the necessary skills and techniques to intervene effectively.
  • Ensures that individuals served are dressed and ready on time for day events, medical appointments, and other activities.
  • Must be willing to accompany and actively participate with individuals on outings as directed.
  • Assist in daily meal preparation.
