Job description

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to general maintenance of equipment and buildings for a multi-campus agency serving children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• High School graduate or equivalent.

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Van Training.
  • Forklift Operator Certificate, CDL a plus.
  • Drug Screening and TB Test

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • One year in a related field.
  • Working knowledge of basic maintenance concepts (plumbing, repair, etc.)
  • Prioritize works orders and projects.
  • Good problem-solving and maintenance troubleshooting skills.
  • Good attendance and reporting to work on time.
  • Ability to write and send professional emails in Microsoft Outlook.
  • Basic use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Tolerate in/outdoor work year-round.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • Be knowledgeable of general maintenance activities and facilities.
  • Complete make ready assignments in a timely manner for 60+ HUD apartments and provide general maintenance to two group homes that includes but is not limited to: minor repair work including: carpentry, painting, floors, moving and installing appliances, plumbing, and electrical work as assigned. Schedule proactive routine servicing and perform minor repairs to equipment.
  • Assist with monthly safety inspections and drills.
  • Prioritize and complete work orders for a multi campus agency.
  • Drive company work trucks, vans, carts, forklifts.
  • Assist with lawn care as needed.
  • Complete heavy cleaning tasks including carpet shampooing and floor waxing and buffing.
  • Assist with set-up and clean up of various agency activities and fund raisers on and off campus.
  • Assist with the unloading and storage of food products; moving, loading and unloading of office, preschool, enterprise and adult learning furnishings as needed.
  • Responsible for appropriate inspection, use and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Participate on a rotating “on-call” schedule for all campuses after hours and weekends.
  • Participate in training, in-services, conferences, and seminars as requested.
  • Follow directions of supervisor, performing other duties as assigned.

  • Sitting for 1-2 hours consecutively
  • Ability to operate machinery and equipment

Reports to: Director of Maintenance Facilities/Business Enterprise
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.00 – $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
