The Direct Support Professional establishes a secure and positive environment that nurtures the client’s self-expression, needs, and goals. Provides support, supervision, and training to individuals with disabilities in a group home setting. Completes documentation of service provided. Provides independent life skills and support services to clients. This position is a safety-sensitive position under the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment.
Required Education, Skills and Experience
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Good documentation, typing and communication skills.
- Microsoft Office Outlook and Calendar experience required.
- Must have at least one year of experience working with developmentally disabled adults.
- Experience with observing and then recording data in computer program to document the progress of individual served toward objectives.
- Experience assisting clients with personal care and mobility needs. This may include tooth brushing, bathing, toileting, transfers, etc.
- Experience assisting individuals with the management of behaviors in a professional manner and demonstration of the necessary skills and techniques to intervene effectively.
- Ensures that individuals served are dressed and ready on time for day events, medical appointments, and other activities.
- Must be willing to accompany and actively participate with individuals on outings as directed.
- Assist in daily meal preparation.
Pay Rate is $14.00 an hour.
