We are looking for responsible, reliable, creative, patient, and intelligent Substitute Preschool Teacher Assistants to educate and nurture our students with developmental disabilities, ages birth to 5 years of age, 7:30am to 3:30pm.
The ideal candidate would be flexible to work with all ages and fill in as needed to cover for teacher absence or teacher development. Training will be provided.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Child Development Associate® (CDA) credential preferred.
• One year of professional child daycare experience preferred.
• Special Education experience preferred.
• CPR/First Aid Certification required.
• Must pass Federal and State criminal background check.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Ability to write and send professional emails in Microsoft Outlook.
• Experience in the use of Outlook Calendar, Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good typing skills and ability to document and record daily client notes in software program.
• Substitute in classes when teachers are out.
• May also step into classes to provide teacher coverage for breaks and/or lunches.
• Implement established curriculum.
• Set a good example for students to follow.
• Organize nap, snack time, and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times.
• Track children’s progress and document as instructed.
• Collaborate with other educators.
• Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards.
Physical requirements
• Prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending.
• Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds at a time.
• Will be exposed to illness-causing bacteria and viruses.
